About Hot Rod Writer

Hello! I’m Hot Rod Writer, a writer and PR professional who stumbled upon this social media thing – and lucky for me, I really find it fascinating.

My background begins with a degree in public relations, followed by a few months in the profession before deciding that I wanted to be a journalist. The reporter/editor side of the media fence just wasn’t my cup of tea, so I tried my hand at marketing and search engine optimization copywriting. I learned enough to be somewhat impressive before diving back into the world of media and public relations. Now, I’m learning all I can about social media strategy and how to combine it with SEO to best implement both as part of a larger marketing & PR plan.

I live in Richmond, Va., with my toddler and husband, who is a pretty darn good cook. No cats dogs or even goldfish (though I love all three) — the child keeps us busy enough. In my spare time, I write, mentor and try to give as much good advice to my nonprofit friends as I can.

Sharing knowledge and experiences, and asking questions to learn and make life  more delicious — that’s what I hope to do with this blog.
